The purpose of this study is to analyze the outcomes according to learning method after developing
housing life education program and applying it to children in museum education. The outcome of this
program was analyzed by collecting learners’ assessment data with regard to the education program which
was conducted for 9 weeks at the National Folk Museum of Korea targeting third to sixth grade
elementary school students. Based on the criteria ‘understanding of learning contents’, ‘emotional changes
toward housing life’, ‘satisfaction level toward the overall education program’, this study aimed to figure
out the displayed effects according to the application method of housing life education.
As a result of analyzing the data, making comparisons with one-time education methods by allowing
multilateral experiences and thinking skills through developing an in-depth long-term program based on
housing life materials was found to be an effective education method of learning housing life materials
at the Children’s Museum. As a result of identifying the learning outcomes from the participants of the
developed education program, outcome was the highest in the role play learning method and the field
learning since learners vividly remembered information, names, and characteristics while they were
exploring spaces and materials during their visit to a Korean-style house and performing a role play
which utilized a deity of one’s family - an intangible material. This also coincides with the anticipated
outcome of the study which asserted that learners' experience is improved as the learning environment
becomes closer to actual image.
Also, according to the comparative analysis of the existing housing life education and development
education, the effect of the same subject toward learners differed according to the educational application
method. Thus, this proves that educational knowledge and satisfaction toward learning are not always
directly correlated to each other.
