The purpose of this paper is to discuss the patriotism which concerns adaptability for Korean situation and searches for education of patriotism. Republican patriotism, in general, is to provide the fundamental condition practically by protecting the civil liberty and rights and promoting the quality of life. Constitutional patriotism is available in the divided countries (South Korea and North Korea) which are discord with each other national and state consciousness. The Republican patriotism can be a political source to solve the present Korean problem because this may prevent the unilateral sacrifice of private and group and extend the civil restraining influence through the historical achievement and experience to build the condition of liberty from control and emphasize the love for human. In order to acquire patriotism, one has to combine patriotism and democracy. The direction of education for patriotism in Korea is necessary to change to republican patriotism which is based on the democratic principle distinguishing itself from exclusive nationalism.
