This study was conducted in order to identify factors influencing the depression level of Chinese students studying in Korea, and for this purpose, a survey was made with 219 Chinese students attending one of two universities in Chungcheongbuk-do and Chungcheongnam-do, respectively, during the period from September 1 to December 15, 2014. The subjects' depression level was 53.49 out of 100, higher than the average. On the other hand, their depression level was in a negative correlation with emotional intelligence and adjustment to university life, and in a positive correlation with acculturative stress. Lastly, factors found to influence the depression of Chinese students in Korea were grade, acculturative stress, emotional intelligence, and adjustment to university life, and the explanatory power of these variables was 77.7%. As presented above, the depression level of Chinese students in Korea was higher than the average, and in order to reduce their depression and support their healthy life during their study in Korea, it is necessary to make holistic approaches in consideration of their personal characteristics and psychosocial factors influencing their depression.
