This study has examined the aspects of foolish character in literature and the meaning of literary
education. The meaningful points of this study are as follows. To begin with, from the viewpoint of
character education, it could help to resolve current issues such as excessive competitive society, exhausting
society, devastated personality, school violence, etc. Next, it provides a meaningful process in which
learners experience the lives of other people in narrative learning style using its results for instruction, and
then they could internalize the experience of various characters in works and identify their value.
Furthermore, the interest coming from the word ‘foolish’, finally, causes the interest of learners in literature.
