Purpose: The purpose of this study was to clarify the concept of health confidence. Methods: The concept analysis method described by Walker and Avant(1995) was used. Critical attributes, antecedents, consequences, and empirical referents were identified. Also model, borderline, and contrary cases were proposed. Results: The attributes of health confidence were defined as 1) positive belief in one's health condition 2) feeling that one's present level of self care or self management is good 3) conviction and will to control future health problems 4) having a high opinion of one's participation level of health behavior. The antecedents were 1) positive experiences in healthcare services 2) provision of proper health informations and care 3) appropriate management of pain and emotional problem 4) decreases of disease burden. The consequences occurring as a results of health confidence were 1) practical increases of participation level of self management for health problem 2) improving diseases 3) decreases of ineffective utilization rate of healthcare delivery system 4) healthcare cost reduction. Conclusion: The concept of Health confidence could be utilized as a subjective health indicator and provide positive direction guidances for patients
