This study purposed to examine the applicability of the capstone design teaching model as a
teaching model for early childhood education’s by examining how teaching Materials making and
application activities based on the capstone design teaching model affected pre-service early childhood
teachers’ self-disclosure, self-assertion, and study executive ability. The subjects of this study were 34
pre-service early childhood teachers in their fourth year at the Department of Early Childhood
Education of N University in G City, and the experiment was conducted for 15 weeks from October
9 to December 12, 2016. When collected data were analyzed through paired‐sample t-test,
teaching Materials making and application activities based on the capstone design teaching model
were found to be effective in enhancing pre-service early childhood teachers’ self-disclosure,
self-assertion, and study executive ability. This suggests that capstone design, which has been used
mostly as a teaching model for engineering departments, may be applicable as a new teaching model
for early childhood education’s.
