This study aimed at examining the effects of job employment centers' psychological stability assistance
counseling program on the decrease of job seekers’ anger, anxiety, and depression and the increase of their job
search efficacy. The methodology used in the study was as follows. The research design was pretest-posttest control
group design. The participants of the study were 58 job seekers who applied for jobs at the 4 job employment
centers in Daegu Metropolitan City, Pohang City and Gumi City. Thirty of them were assigned into the
experimental group and the other 28 into the control group. The program involved a psychological counseling
intervention program implemented by professional counselors employed at the center. The instruments used were
the Anger Scale, the Anxiety Scale, the Depression Scale, and the Job Search Efficacy Scale. The data were
analyzed using the SPSS for means, deviations, and analysis of covariance. The results of the study were as
follows. First, psychological stability assistance counseling program exerted no significant effect upon reducing anger
of job seekers. Second, psychological stability assistance counseling program resulted in an significant effect upon
reducing anxiety of job seekers. Third, psychological stability assistance counseling program resulted in an
significant effect upon reducing depression of job seekers. Fourth, psychological stability assistance counseling
program was found to exert an significant effect upon improving job search efficacy of job seekers. The results of
the study showed that psychological stability assistance counseling program could be an effective intervention for
psychological stability and job search efficacy for job seekers.
