The purpose of this study was clarifying dementia elderly people’s situation {behavior
problem, ADL, cognitive obstacle}, a family caregiver’s .depression, and relation with a
care burden.
Candidates are 103 caregivers of the elderly people withdementia in being home,
living in the suburban and receiving day care or visit nursing regionally.
Although it was shown as a result of investigation that dementia nature elderly
people’s problem behavior influences a caregiver’s depression, a cognitive obstacle and
ADL were unrelated with a caregiver’s depression. Furthermore, it became clear that a
care worker’s depression affects a care burden. From now on, it was suggested that
medical treatment and the welfare persons concerned need the relation for mitigating
the burden of caregiving, such as explanation of the correspondence method to a
dementia elderly people’s problem behavior, early detection of depression, and mental
support.
