Given this factor, the objective of the present research is to shed light on rules and
regulations pertaining to four wheeled walkers and electrically powered scooters set
forth by commercial establishments, viz. department stores and supermarkets that
mainly sell food items (hereinafter “ Retail Stores") ‘ From October to November 2009,
questionnaire survey was conducted by distributing the questionnaire through post
70% of the commercial establishments had the users of electrically powered scooters
among their visitors, while almost all commercial establishments had the users of four
wheeled walkers among their visitors. However, very few commercial establishments
had put these equipments on their agenda list for discussion and study, and moreover
they didn’t organize any training about these equipments
Although most of the commercial establishments didn’t permit the use of these
equipments , some of the establishments thought "although we do not proactively allow
or encourage, if a user of electrically powered scooter visits us, we allow him to use "
