The ministry of education places a special emphasis on balanced meals for children to grow soundly and established the Basic Law for dietary education in Heisei 17. In order to support children’s healthy life, it is now reviewing children’s eating habits as well as children’s meals and school lunches. I think that it is important to grasp the recognition about the actual condition of the eating habits of the child of infancy or a guardian’s eating habits when recommending food education. Then, it investigated for the purpose of clarifying the factor relevant to the actual condition of making the meal of a guardian with the child of infancy, and making a guardian’s meal. The author carried out questionnaires targeting 3-5 year old children and their 867 couples at seven nursery schools at S city. Answered questionnaires were 602(69%). To the question if they care about nutrition for healthy life in cooking meals, 85% of them answered “Yes". 55% of them answered “It’s easy to cook" or “It’s enjoyable to cook‘"( Group A) While 40% of them answered that they “have no time for cooking" or “It’s annoying to cook"(Group B). The relation between Group A,B and frequency of eating out and usage of processed food by cross tabulation. There shows a significant difference between cooking meals and usage of processed food, more in Group B answered they often use processed.
