This thesis reports the 8upport that was actually given in order for a child with achondroplasia (hereinafter referred as Child S) to participate in a sports festival. In September 2009, the author observed the practices for the sports festival, and evaluated whether it is safe for Child S to perform in the events of the sports festival. Also, the author conducted interviews with the childcare provider in charge, the principal, and his parents about the sports festival and Child S. The childcare provider decided that it was difficult for Child S to perform in all the events so they made special consideration for him. For example, in the obstacle race, he only cleared the obstacles that were possible for him. He ran a shorter distance in the relay. During the gymnastics, the childcare provider supported and carried him. Also, in order to lessen his tiredness, he traveled the shortest distance to the filed instead of entering there with other children. As a result, Child S was able to participate in all the events for the sports festival without injury or mental stress .
