This research aimed to verify the effects of group art therapy on anger control and sociality of
adolescents with conduct disorders in a reformatory. This study was performed targeting adolescents of S
reformatory in U city, Gyeonggi-do, who are diagnosed with conduct disorder. The experimental and
control group each consisted of 10 adolescents. For the experimental group, 10 sessions of group art therapy
occurred once a week for 90 minutes per session. STAXI and SSRS were used as the research tools, and
H-T-P drawing test was used for a qualitative analysis. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS
20.0 program. The results of this study are as follows: First, group art therapy has a statistically significant
effect in reducing the state anger, trait anger, and trait anger expression of adolescents with conduct
disorders in a reformatory. Second, the effects on the sociality competence of the experimental group
showed a significant effect on its sub domains such as cooperation, self-assertion, empathic ability, and
self-control capability. Third, the results of the H-T-P drawing test before and after group art therapy, it
showed a positive qualitative change. Thus, group art therapy improves the anger control ability of
adolescents with conduct disorder in a reformatory, and it has positive effects on their social competence,
including their cooperation, self-assertion, empathic ability, and self-control capability.
