In recent years, gamification techniques using game thinking and mechanisms have been applied in many
fields. It is known that gamification is to encourage people's voluntary participation by providing them with
valuable fun. Therefore, this study analyzed the indie applications' simulated investment contest of Creative
Economy Town using gamification.
As a result of the analysis, members participated in simulated investment and mentoring actively, which
greatly increased membership and page views of the website. That is, gamification led members to feel fun
and participate in idea evaluation and mentoring which are generally known as difficult activities.
The case of the indie applications' simulated investment contest confirms that gamification can be used
in various fields, and has a great effect on activating the website. Results of this study will be useful
enough as basic data to activate the website in the future.
