The purpose of the present study was to examine the effects of the occupational therapy program
applied with physical activities on the function of upper extremity ,emotional and cognitive function of the
people with intellectual disabilities. For this study, the occupational therapy programs applied with physical
activities were conducted with 10 people with intellectual disabilities using the Disabled Rehabilitation Facilities located in Gurye. 16 times in total, for 40 minutes per session, twice per week for 8 weeks. The
function of upper extremity was measured by BTE(Baltimore Therapeutic Equipment). The Emotional
function was evaluated by Emotional Behavioral Checklist(EBC), The cognitive function was done by
Computerized Neuro-Cognitive Function System(CNT 4.0) As the results of the study, The score of the
Tip-pinch supination- pronation and hand grip strength showed significant improvement in the function of
upper extremity before and after measuring the occupational therapy programs applied with physical
activities. In the emotional behaviors, depression-withdrawal and socialization items showed significant
improvement. The item of concentration showed significant differences in the cognitive function. In addition,
the occupational therapy programs applied with physical activities were identified to provide the positive
effect to the function of upper extremity, emotional and cognitive function of the people with intellectual
disabilities are in between jobs.
