The purpose of this study is to investigate how the English education of 4 year universities in Korea
reflects the needs of liberal arts requirements during the recent years. For this purpose, twenty universities
in Seoul were selected randomly from the four-year universities found the 2017 College Information
website(www.academyinfo.go.kr). Through the university homepage and interviews with university officials,
the presence of e-learning or blended learning subjects, and the presence of English-related convergence
courses amd so on were analyzed. As a result, most universities have a liberal arts college or a separate
liberal arts organization, and have had increased the diversification of academic subjects for liberal arts.
However, there aren't enough courses that reflect the needs of recent liberal arts education. Especially,
e-learning, blended learning, or English-related convergence courses integrated into classrooms were lacking
within the colleges.
