The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for establishing strategies for enhancing internal and
external customer satisfaction of small and medium-sized hospitals by analyzing factors affecting customer
orientation of nurses through 199 descriptive research study on nurses of small hospitals. Data collection
was made from July 18 to July 29, 2016 using structured questionnaires. As study tools, PES-NWI
developed by Lake(2002) and adapted by Ju(2015) was used as the tool for the nursing work environment,
the tool developed by Morris and Feldman(1996), adapted by Kim(1998), and revised and complemented by
Song(2011) with nurses as subjects was used for emotional labor, and the tool developed by Moon (2003)
and whose scale was modified by Cho(2005) was used for customer orientation. The results of this study, small and medium-sized hospital nurses' nursing work environment and working type were factors increasing
customer orientation. The explanatory power of these variables was 29%.
