The purpose of this study to analyze the differences on meta-cognition among elementary
students’, middle school students’, and high school students’ in terms of total aspects and sub
factors of the meta-cognition assessment checklist developed by Kim(2012). The subjects included
1,064 elementary students, 378 middle school students, and 476 high school students. As the
results, there were no difference between genders nor among school levels on the total
meta-cognition. However, the meta-cognitive skills and monitoring of elementary students
appeared significantly higher than middle and high school students’. The cause of these results
were discussed in terms of sampling certain graders in elementary students.
