이 연구는 2007년부터 공적노인요양보장제도를 시행하는 것을 정부의 방침으 로 정해 놓고 있는 우리나라의 시대적 상황에 즈음하여 2000년 4월부터 시행하 고 있는 일본의 개호보험제도의 도입 배경과 그 개요를 살펴보는 데 목적이 있 다. 세계 총인구 중 65세 이상의 고령화 율은 2000년에 6.9%에서 2050년에는 16.4%까지 상승할 것이라고 전망되고 있다.
This paper aims to review the background and outline of the long-term care system for the elderly of Japan, considering the social conditions that our country is planning to introduce the system by 2007. In the meantime, our country is considering Japanese system as a model for our long-term care social insurance system for the elderly. Thus, this study is trying to Japanese system having been institutionalized in the year of 2000 with a hope that our efforts contributes to the successful introduction of the system.
