현대 사회로 올수록 급격한 정보화, 세계화의 영향으로 국가 간 상호 의존성이 높은 글로벌 이슈들이 늘어나고 있다. 이렇게 복잡하고 예측 불가능한 문제들을 적극적이고 책임감 있게 해결해나갈 수 있는 21세기형 인재를 양성하기 위해 강조되고 있는 것이 바로 세계시민교육(Global Citizenship Education, GCED)이다. 복잡하고 다양한 맥락과 상호 관계성을 탐구 하며 지속가능한 긍정적 변화를 추구하는 세계시민교육을 실현시키기 위해서는 인간 삶의 문화를 복합적으로 다루며 대상의 본질을 다양한 관점에서 탐구하고 그 결과를 시각적으로 구상하며 소통하게 하는 미술교육에 주목할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 바로 이러한 미술교육의 특성을 바탕으로 세계시민교육을 효율적으로 실현하기 위한 방안을 탐색해보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 2015 개정 미술과 교육과정의 성격 및 목표와 세계시민교육이 추구하는 학습자 특성간의 연계를 알아보고, 유네스코에서 제시한 학습 주제에 기초하여 미술 관련 분야 및 2015 개정 미술과 교육과정의 핵심 역량을 연계하여 미술교육을 통한 세계시민교육 교수ㆍ학습 가이드라인을 제안하였으며, 이에 기초하여 2개의 수업안을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 미술교육을 통한 세계시민교육이 학교 교육 현장에 적극적으로 실현됨을 돕기 위한 기초 연구로서의 의의를 지닌다.
Due to the information and globalization in a post-modern society, highly dependent global issues were increasing. Global Citizenship Education(GCED) is aimed to nurture citizens who can solve the 21st century's various and complex global issues with responsibilities. In order to apply GCED to school, it is necessary to pay attention to the nature of art education. Art education focuses on human culture and lives in complex ways, helps students visualize through art activities and plays an essential role in developing creative thinking abilities to solve problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the ways to implement GCED in art education. For this, the relationship and the connections of UNESCO’s GCED with the core competencies of 2015 revised National Art Curriculum, a guideline matrix and two instructional plans were investigated and suggested. The result of this study would be the basis of constructing application models for GCED in art education and reminding the importance of art education for implementing GCED.
