This study was to investigate the effects of religious activities on the participation and life satisfaction
in the elderly. The subjects were 200 elderly people living in the community, and the evaluation was
assessed using the Religious Participation Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale, and Korean Activity Sorting Card.
The results of the study were as follows. There was a significant correlation between total score of Life
Satisfaction and personal attitude toward religious life. Among the sub-domains of Life Satisfaction, social
life and leisure activities, interpersonal relationship, physical and mental health, family and kinship,
friendship, and food and shelter were significantly correlated with personal attitudes toward religious life. T
here was a significant correlation between leisure activities and personal attitude toward religious life, and life satisfaction has a significant correlation with the social activities of participation. Based on these
results, it may be necessary to consider intervening participation in religious activities in order to improve
the quality of life and satisfaction of the elderly and promote social participation.
