Objective : This study investigates the accessibility of physically disabled people to hypermarket located
in Daegu City, and suggests ways to improve access to and use of hypermarket by people
with mobility impairments.
Method : Based on the detailed standard chart of convenience facilities for the disabled, "Accessibility
evaluation checklist for disabled people with large marts" was completed and two evaluators
conducted a visiting survey.
Results : The results of parking spaces for the disabled, the elevator installation of the internal
facilities and the installation of handicapped facilities for the handicapped in the hypermarket
were as high as 100%. However, actual installation was satisfactory, but low compliance
rate was found for the detailed items.
Conclusion : There is a lack of awareness and guidance on the establishment of convenience facilities for
disabled people in hypermarket. Therefore, it should be studied so that the facilities can be
installed based on the stable design considering functional and usable accessibility without
inconvenience to the disabled or ordinary people.
