As the esthetic demands of dental patients are increased the demands of esthetic implant material are also increased. Zirconia is already used as post and fixed bridge framework in restorative dentistry. It has non-metallic color, low plaque accumulation and good biocompatibility. For that reason, using zirconia as implant material is gathering more interest now. This article deals with the general characteristics of zirconia and its dental applications as implant abutment material.
