본 연구는 유치원 교육현장에서 교사들이 음악적 개념이 포함된 음악활동을 어떻게 실행하고 있으며, 이에 대한 어 려움은 무엇인지 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구 참여자는 서울과 경기 지역의 공·사립 유치원에서 만 4~5세를 담임 하고 있는 교사 13명이었으며, 연구방법으로는 각 교사와 일대일 면담을 실시하였고, 면담 후 전화나 e-mail을 통해 추가적 인 자료수집이 이루어졌다. 본 연구의 결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 유치원 현장에서 음악적 개념이 포함된 음악활동의 실 행은 자연스러운 일과 및 놀이와 집단 활동을 통해 이루어지고 있는 반면에 음악활동 전개과정에서 잘못된 음악적 개념을 전달하거나 편중된 음악적 개념을 지도하고 있었다. 음악적 개념이 포함된 음악활동 실행의 어려움은 음악활동의 가치는 단 지 즐거움이라는 교사의 인식, 음악교육내용에 대한 비체계적인 인식, 음악교육에 대한 소홀한 책임의식과 같은 교사의 가 치관 및 인식에서 기인되는 것으로 나타났다. 더불어 음악교육에 대한 확신 및 자신감 부족과 음악적 개념 지도의 어려움과 같은 음악교육에 대한 교사의 낮은 교수효능감 또한 음악적 개념이 포함된 음악활동 실행의 어려움으로 작용하는 것으로 나 타났다.
The purpose of the study is to discover the practices of teaching musical concepts by kindergarten teachers and their accompanied difficulties. The study focused on 13 teachers who taught 4 to 5-year-old children at public and private kindergartens located in Seoul and the Gyeonggi area. Each participant went through a semi-structured interview. The results of this study are as follows. The teachers were implementing activities about musical concepts through daily routines and group activities. On the other hand, they were also transferring misconceptions to children by using wrong musical concepts during their implementation or provided biased education by concentrating on only one or two music activities. The difficulties in implementing activities with musical concepts have come from the teachers’perceptions that the value of music activities is to simply have fun, their unstructured perception towards music education contents, and their low responsibility for music education. In addition, another difficulty in implementing music activities stemmed from the teachers' lack of confidence and low efficacy of the teachers towards music education, as well as their difficulties in connecting musical concepts to music activities.
