The purpose of this study is to understand the importance of parent-adolescent communication levels and
emotional intelligence. The subjects of this study were 312 undergradute students located in Seoul,
Gyeonggi-do, and a total of 278 were included in the data for this study after those who did not answer
or answer insincerely to questionnaires. The collected data were calculated of reliability by using the SPSS
Windows 18.0 programs, and were conducted of analysis and multiple regression analysis. The research
results are as follows. First, this study showed parent-adolescent communication levels perceived by
university students had positive effects on subjective happiness. Second, this study showed emotional
intelligence perceived by university students had positive effects on subjective happiness. Third, this study
showed parent-adolescent communication levels and emotional intelligence perceived by university students
had positive effects on subjective The results of this study provide us with the fact that parent-adolescent
communication levels and emotional intelligence have critical variables on subjective happiness of university
students. Therefore, in order to promote subjective happiness of university students, the effort to apply
desirable parent-adolescent communication skills is needed. In addition, the development of various
programs for promotion of emotional intelligence and applications of the programs to university field is
demanded.
