본 연구는 아동의 행복감과 사회적 지지, 학교생활적응의 관계를 알아보고 아동의 행복감과 학교생활 적응의 관계에서 사회적 지지가 매개 역할을 하는 지를 밝히고자 한다. 이를 위해 초등학생 450명을 대상으로 주관적 행복감 검사, 사회적 지지 검사, 학교생활적응 검사를 실시하였고, 분석 결과는 다음 과 같다. 첫째, 행복감, 사회적 지지, 학교생활적응의 관계를 살펴본 결과 아동의 행복감, 사회적지지, 학교생활적응은 모두 정적 상관관계가 있었다. 행복감이 높은 아동이 사회적 지지를 높게 지각하고, 학교생활적응도 잘 하는 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 지지가 높은 아동이 학교생활적응을 잘 하는 것 으로 볼 수 있다. 둘째, 아동의 행복감과 학교생활적응의 관계에서 사회적 지지는 부분매개효과가 있 었다. 사회적 지지의 하위요인인 부모지지, 교사지지, 친구지지 역시 부분 매개효과를 가지고 있었다. 아동의 행복감이 학교생활적응을 돕는 직접적인 효과를 가지고 있으며, 행복감이 높은 아동이 사회적 지지를 긍정적으로 지각하여 학교생활적응에도 영향을 미쳤다.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of social support on the relationship of children’s happiness and school adjustment. The subject in this study were 435 fifth- and sixth-grade students. The major findings of the study were as follows: First, the happiness of the children, the social support and the school adjustment is positively related. Second, in terms of the relation of the children’s happiness with the school adjustment, the social support had partial mediating effect. The study confirmed that the happiness that the children would feel immediately contributes to the school adjustment and that these children of the high level of happiness react more satisfactorily to their school adjustment as they perceive the social support positively. This study is considered academically significant in that it had verified how the high level of happiness of the children improves the children’s positive perception on the social support which eventually helps the children’s school adjustment.
