The purpose of this study is to acknowledge the relationships among computer game addiction, peer relationships
and aggression of elementary school students.
Research questions for this study are as follows;
First. Is the degree of computer game addiction different depending on the variable factors(genders, school
records, whether or not their parents' have a job, game start time)?
Second. Is there a significant correlation between the degree of computer game addiction and peer relationships
of elementary school students?
Third. Is there a significant correlation between the degree of computer game addiction and aggression of
elementary school students?
The subjects of this study were from B and S elementary school located in Busan, in which 6 classes were
taken from the 6th grade for the test. The collected data has been processed by computers with SPSS 12.0. It
is analyzed by arithmetical average, ANOVA, T-test, the standard deviation and analysis of correlation to
examine the relationships and characteristics of the variables.
The result of this study are as follows;
First. The degree of computer game addiction had statistically significant difference depending on variable
factors(genders, school records, whether or not their parents' have a job, game start time).
Second. There were the significant correlation of game addiction and peer relation. Third. There were the significant correlations of game addiction and aggression.
Seeing above these results, it shows that elementary students need to have basic education and consulting in the
school and home to have comfortable life using information and knowledge not being addicted by computer
game in the information society that they have to use computer as a part of it, and also it is required that
consulting program to cure and prevent the game addiction of elementary students and study verifying the
effectiveness should be activated.
