The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of empathy enhancing bibliotherapy program on elementary
school student‘s empathy ability and aggression. This study investigated 55 students who had five graders in
elementary school students in Gyeong-gi province. The students were divided into two groups, 27 students for
the treatment group and 28 for the control group. For the statistical analysis, ANCOVA was used. Results of
this study can be summarized as follows. First, the improvement of the Empathic arousal in the treatment group
was significantly higher than the control group(F=7.58, p<.01). Second, the decrease of the Indirect aggression
in the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group(F=5.63, p<.05). In conclusion, the
empathy enhancing bibliotherapy program had a positive effect on improvement of the Empathic arousal and
decrease of the Indirect aggression.
