The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of school counseling programs linked with history
experience learning in middle school on the self-esteem and interpersonal relations. This study has two objectives:
First, to develop a school counseling programs linked with history experience learning in middle school. Second,
to examine the effects of school counseling programs linked with history experience learning in middle school. 22
volunteers in J middle school were divided into the experimental group and the control group. The students in
the experimental group went through the school counseling programs linked with history experience learning for
middle school students from December 12th to December 14th, however, participants in the control group did
not receive any treatment during the period. In order to examine the effects of this program, the self-esteem test
and interpersonal relations test were given to the experimental group and the control group respectively one
week before the program, 8 weeks after the program. T-test and ANCOVA were applied to data processing.
The results of this study are as follows. First, the experimental group showed meaningful improvement in
self-esteem compared with the control group. Second, the experimental group showed meaningful improvement in
interpersonal relations compared with the control group. This study showed that school counseling programs
linked with history experience learning had an positive effect on self-esteem and interpersonal relations of middle
school students. Finally, implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
