The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Sexual Assault Recognition, Sexual Violence
Permissiveness and Sexual Assertiveness in university students. A self-report survey collected responses from 289
students in six universities in Busan city. The data were analysed with descriptive statistics analysis, independent
t-test, χ2-test, and Pearson correlation coefficients using SPSS 23.0 program. The results of this study were as
follows. First, sexual assertiveness was significantly different by grade, dating period, and sexual experience, while
sexual assault recognition was significantly different by gender, age, and location of residence. Secondly,
personality and physical damage in the past don't significantly affect sexual assertiveness of female students of
universities, but sexual experiences do. Thus, the more sexual experiences students have, the lower the level of
sexual assertiveness. Finally, there was a significant relationships between sexual violence permissiveness and sexual
assault recognition in male students, while there was a significant relationship between sexual violence
permissiveness, sexual experiences and sexual assertiveness in female students.
