삼한시대 전기는 韓사회의 특질이 형성되어 가는 시기이자 國의 형성기로서의 성격을 갖고 있다. 이를 대표하는 고고유물로는 점토대토기ㆍ세형동검ㆍ다뉴경 등이 있으며, 이들은 목관묘 내에 조합을 이루며 부장된다. 이러한 양상을 삼한의 목관묘문화로 정의하며, 그 조영양상을 통해 목관묘의 등급을 도출하고, 이들이 韓사회 내 지배층의 위계와 어떤 식으로 대응하는지를 검토함으로써 韓의 사회구조와 성격의 일단을 제시하고자 한다. 목관묘의 등급을 도출하기 위해서는 삼한 전기라는 시대적 배경과 목관묘라는 유구의 특수성 모두를 고려해야 한다. 분묘의 등급과 위계에 대한 고고학적 기준안으로서 본고에서는「유구의 입지」, 「유물출토량」, 「위신재의 질과 양」을 제시하였다. 삼한 전기는 목관묘 부장유물 조합의 발생순서를 활용하여 1획기 Ⅰ~Ⅲ단계, 2획기 Ⅳ~Ⅵ단계의 두 획기 여섯 단계로 분기할 수 있다. 목관묘 등급은 각 단계별로 3→5→5→5→5→6등급으로 도출된다. 그러나 이를 그대로 각 단계의 사회 위계에 등치시킬 수는 없으며, 다음의 가정 하에 삼한사회의 특수성과 각 단계별 문화적 양상을 고려하여 재검토하였다. 우선 목관묘 조영 층은 모두 사회 내 지배층에 속하며, 피지배층은 無墓者로서 최하위 등급 목관묘는 지배층 가운데 최하위 계층을 반영한다. 둘째, 각 단계 계층사회의 양상을 단적으로 보여주는 최고 등급 분묘의 사회간의 비교 위주로 검토를 진행한다. 단, 목관묘의 등급 가운데 성격상 묶을 수 있는 것들은 한 계층으로 통합하도록 한다. 셋째, 최고등급 목관묘유적이 소재한 지역은 각 小國의 중심지로 보아도 좋다. 이를 통해 다시 단계별 계층사회의 전개양상을 살펴보면 3→4→4→3→3→3계층으로 분화가 진행되며, 구체적인 양상을 요약하면 다음과 같다. Ⅰ단계에는 요령지역에서부터의 이주해 온 집단의 지배층이 최고위층을 형성하여 토착민들을 피지배층으로 편입한다. Ⅱ단계와 Ⅲ단계에는 韓의 세력이 확대됨에 따라 중간 관리자를 두어 각 사회를 관리하고 교역 등의 대외적 실무를 담당하게 하였다. Ⅳ단계에 이르러 대외교역의 중요성이 커지면서 역량을 축적한 중간 지배층이 영남지역으로 이동하여 2획기부터 사회의 최고계층으로 자리잡게 되었다. 1획기에서 2획기로의「단독묘→ 군집묘」의 최고 등급 목관묘 조영양상의 변화도 독보적 정치력을 갖춘 수장이 아닌 실용성을 앞세우며 경제력을 갖춘 신 세력이 사회 내 최고계층으로 올라서게 된 사회구조의 변화와 연관되는 것으로 보인다.
The former three Hans period is the time that formed characteristics of the Han society. Archaeological artifacts that represented this period are ring rimmed vessels, narrow bronze daggers, bronze mirrors etc., and they constitute a combibation of belongings of burials in wooden coffin tombs. These aspects can be definded as three Han’s wooden coffin tombs culture. In order to derive the rank of three Han’s the wooden coffin tombs, I suggest standards 「A relative location of tombs」, 「Quantity of artifacts」, 「Quality and quantity of burials in prestage」in this paper. The former three Han period is able to divide into twice phase, sixth steps by the combination of belongings of burials in wooden coffin tombs. As each step goes by, ranks of tombs can be derived 3→5→5→5→5→6 grades. However, it’s is still not to be equivalent at each step as the social hierarchy. I review the assumption of the uniqueness of Han’s social and cultural aspects at each step. First, the lowest class in society have no any tombs. Second, I do examines from a comparison between the tombs of the society showed the social aspects of each step. Third, it’s the area located the center of each chiefdom to locate the highest ranked tombs’s society. Re-examined aspects of the evolution of social stratification, considering former assumptions, it’s subdivided with 3→4→4→3→3→3 classes in Han society, and it can be summarized as follows. In the 1Phase and Ⅰstep, emigrants from Liaodong peninsula are formed to the highest class in Han society, put a few representatives of indigenous peoples. In Ⅱ and Ⅲstep expanding the powers of the Han, a couple of middle managers to manage each community was responsible for trade and peninsula externally practices. In Ⅳstep, by increased the importance of trade, as the middle classes accumulated abilities stand face to face the highest classes in former step, they have moved Yeung-nam region, there are the center of social change. Starting Ⅳstep, the middle class of rulers in former phase changed the new highest rulers. this change, 「isolated tombs in the area scan be viewed」→「tombs gathered」, is samely associated with new emerging force that go up to the highest class in society, equipped with not political power nor economic power, led by practicality.
