This study explores the factors that influence the funding success of crowd-funding project in China. As
Mobile Internet user in China is growing rapidly and the Chinese government emphasizes
micro-entrepreneurship for young people to solve unemployment problems caused by urbanization progress,
China's crowd-funding growth is remarkable. As of June 2017, 439 crowd-funding platforms are operating
normally. And in 2016, total 21.743 billion RMB were successfully funded through crowd-funding in China. Nonetheless, there are still few studies investigating Chinese crowd-funding platforms and projects. In this
context, this study collects 558 projects data from December 2013 to September 2016 in Qingju
Crowd-funding platform using Java based web crawler to examine the impact of factors that influence
project funding success. With the data, this study performs logistic regression. Through analysis, we found
the following facts. First, the funding success of crowdfunding projects in China is influenced by the social
capital of project founder. Second, the funding success of crowdfunding project in China depends on
whether the publisher organization is an individual or a corporation. On the other hand, quantitative factors
of contents such as the word count and the disclosure of local information do not significantly affect the
success of funding.
