This is the period of the 4th industrial revolution and the age of intelligent information technology.
Looking in a human being's spiritual sphere amidst external richness and convenience in modern times, we
are driven into the fierce struggle for existence, thereby living in the era of identity crisis. Accordingly, the
purpose of this study was to explore a significance of forming the ego identity and the narrative identity in
undergraduates through the literary therapeutic writing. The literary therapeutic writing was progressed by 8
times targeting 2 freshmen at S university where is located in D city. As a result of the research, the
contents of ego identity was indicated to include ‘living bravely now without losing my nerve,’
‘encouraging with believing me.’ This could be confirmed that the formation of ego identity in the
undergraduate period is under the process and that only the identity of having experienced an introspection
and a change can be reborn as subjective ego identity. Also, a meaning of narrative identity was shown to
include ‘becoming perfect myself with escaping from other person's sight of residue,’ ‘repetition of selection
and shaking.’ This made it available for understanding about the research participants' multi-layered life.
Hence, this study re-analyzed the formation of ego identity in undergraduates even from the perspective of
narrative identity by having a human being's narrative function as a medium, thereby being likely allowing
our life in the period of convergence to be possibly looked in diverse layers.
