This research is conducted in order to verify an cognition of North Korean women defectors’s gender
equality consciousness, gender sensitivity, sexual harassment, sexual violence and to verify an effects of
gender equality consciousness on gender sensitivity, sexual harassment, sexual violence. The data is
collected from 500 subjects above 20 years old of age with North Korean defector women, residing in
Gyeonggi-do, and utilized 361 subjects excluded missing value in analysis. The results affirmed that the
gender equality consciousness of North Korean women defectors were 2,817 which was little lower than
cognition of gender equality consciousness and gender sensitivity. Also for the recognition of sexual
harassment and sexual violence was average, yet in part of recognizing the sexual harassment and sexual
violece as a social issue was relatively low.
As a result of analysis about the effects of gender equality consciousness on gender sensitivity, sexual
harassment, sexual violence, gender equality consciousness exerts a favorable influence on sexual
harassment, sexual violence and for social demographic status, educational background exerts a favorable
influence on sexual harassment, sexual violence. On th basis of these results, diverse intervention ways
were presented for improving North Korean women defector’s gender equality consciousness, gender
sensitivity and solidify their recognition on sexual harassment and sexual violence.
