전 세계적으로 테러단체에 의해 발생되는 테러들이 매년 증가하고 있으며, 테러로 인한 인명 피해, 경제 피해 등이 심각한 지경에 이르고 있다. 일반적으로 테러는 정치, 종교, 사상적 목적을 위해 폭력 적 방법의 수단을 통해 발생되며, 이런 테러들은 테러단체들에 의해 자신들이 믿는 이념을 성취할 목 적으로 자행되고 있다. 이러한 테러들에 관한 연구는 주로 정성적 연구를 중심으로 수행되었으나, 계 량적이거나 정량적인 측면에서 의미있는 분석은 미흡한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 세계 주요 테러단체 인 헤즈볼라, 하마스, 알카에다에 대한 정량적인 비교 분석을 수행하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 먼저 GTD로부터 테러단체들에 의해 발생된 테러사건 데이터들을 추출한 후에, 연도별 및 시기별 추이 분 석을 수행한다. 그리고 테러사건의 위치 정보를 기반으로 테러단체별로 테러분포도들을 생성한 후에, 이를 기반으로 테러단체의 테러들에 대한 지리적 분석을 수행한다. 최종적으로 추이 분석과 지리적 분석을 기반으로 헤즈볼라, 하마스, 알카에다의 테러단체에 대한 비교 분석을 종합적으로 수행한다.
Since terror events caused by terrorist groups are increasing every year around the world, human injury and economic damage caused by the terrorism are serious. In general, terrorism is committed in a violent way for political, religious, and ideological purposes and is being carried out by terrorist groups in order to achieve their beliefs. The researches on terrorism have mainly been carried out on qualitative aspect, but the meaningful analysis on the quantitative aspect is insufficient. In this paper, we would like to perform a comparative analysis of the major terrorist groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas and al Qaeda. To do this, first, we extract terror events performed by terrorist groups from GTD, and then perform trend analysis by year and period. Based on distribution maps generated using location information of the terror events, we conduct a geographical analysis of terrorist attacks committed by terrorist organizations. This paper proposes comprehensive analysis of terrorist groups based on trend analysis and geographical analysis.
