This study is to review the inference of implication in communication and suggest improvements in teaching reading comprehension. Catching the implication is necessary to succeed in communication between speakers/writers and listeners/readers. The inference of implication is relevant to a text and its context. It is necessary to prepare and select relevant contexts for successful inferring implication of the text. In teaching reading comprehension in classroom, it seems that contexts of a text is not accounted, thus inferring of implication meaning of the text is restricted. To solve the problem, we have to supplement contexts in reading textbooks, and reading teachers need to emphasize the importance of preparation and selection of relevant contexts. Also awareness of inference tasks in reading the text is necessary to be accounted in teaching inference of implication meaning. We need to offer a process of inference depend on individual difference between students as well.
