This paper suggests some practical listening activities in Elementary English classroom: ‘write down the number of the one you hear’, ‘listening grid’, ‘listen and find’, ‘listen and work out the order’. These activities are all intended to encourage children in language exchanges and to develop confidence and willingness to have a go. The activities can be used occasionally to supplement a textbook or they can stand on their own as the basis for an independent programme. Most of the activities can be used in either simpler or more complex forms and are therefore suitable for any age group.
아동은 본능적으로 놀이를 좋아한다. 친구들과 함께하는 일이나 실제 활동에서 재미 를 발견하거나 스스로 재미를 만들어내는 능력이 매우 뛰어나다. 아동의 속성상 동기 가 부여되기만 하면 그 활동에 쉽게 집중하고 끊임없이 움직이기를 좋아하여 이러한 아동의 특성을 초등영어교실에서 적극적으로 잘 활용할 수 있는 실제적인 활동방법을 모색해 보는 것이 필요하다고 본다. 본 연구에서는 초등영어교실에서 듣기 능력을 향 상시키기 위한 몇 가지 활동의 범주를 제안하고자 한다. 즉, 듣고 받아 적기 활동, 듣 고 격자판 작성하기 활동, 듣고 찾아내기 활동, 듣고 순서대로 수행하기 활동 등으로 듣기 활동의 수준을 점차적으로 높여 적용하였다.
