이 연구는 최근 중등특수교사의 교과전문성이 강조됨에 따라 중등특수교사 양성과정 중 표시 과목의 현장적합성에 대한 당사자의 인식을 알아보고, 향후 개선방향의 근거를 제공하는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 172명의 현직 중등특수교사들에게 설문조사를 실시하였고, 수집된 자료를 빈도분석과 학교형태에 따른 교차분석을 하였다. 그 결과, 중등특수교사들은 본인의 자격증 표시과목과 실제 지도교과가 일치하지 않는 경우가 많았고, 특수학급 담당 교사의 경우는 초등수준의 공통교육과정을 적용하거나 여러 교과를 지도해야하는 현실적 여건으로 인해 자신의 교과 전문성을 살리지 못하고 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 중등특수교사들의 교과전문성을 활용할 수 있는 교사 양성체제에 대한 개선방향을 제안하였다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness of the secondary special teachers regarding the compatibility of their certification subjects in schools and provide the ways to improve the secondary special teacher training course which can put emphasis on the subject professionalism. The survey was conducted among 172 secondary special teachers and the gathered data was analyzed according to their employment and the types of school, using cross tabulations and frequency analysis. The results show that special class teachers in schools are having difficulties in adapting the elementary course and teaching several subjects as well as special subjects. The results also revealed that secondary special teachers are teaching their own subjects but those subjects don’t match with their certification subjects. Based on those results, I would like to suggest the directions for the improvement of secondary special teacher training system which can make good use of the subject professionalism in schools.
