The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between mother\'s self-concept, child-rearing attitude and their child\'s self-concept. The subjects of this study were 253 students, the 6th grade elementary school children, and their mothers at Seoul and Kyoung-gi province. The data were analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, Tukey HSD, Pearson\'s product-moment correlation coefficient with the SPSS 10.0 Program. The results of this study were as follows:
First, mother\'s self-concepts scores were higher in the lower age range and the higher the income level. Second, mother\'s child-rearing attitude showed permissive in the higher educational level and the higher income level. Third, the child\'s self-concept was affirmative in the higher income family. The child\'s scholastic self-concept showed higher in educational level than others. Forth, mother\'s self-concept was affirmative when mother\'s child-rearing attitude was authoritative. Fifth, there was significant correlation between mother\'s family self-concept and child\'s self-concept.
Sixth, mother\'s child-rearing attitude showed authoritative when child\'s family self-concept scores were high.
Based on these results, parent education program should be developed supporting for establishing affirmative self-concept and healthy child-rearing attitude.
