The Self-leadership Program was composed of five steps: self-understanding, self-expression, problem-solving, The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the effect of the Self-leadership Program on middle school students.
goal-setting, self-reward. 20 volunteers in J middle school were divided into the experimental group and the control group. The students in the experimental group went through the self-leadership group counseling from December 29th to December 30th, however, participants in the control group did not receive any treatment during the period.
In order to examine the effects of this program, leadership life skills test and self-esteem test were given to the experimental group and the control group respectively one week before the program, one week and 50 days after the program. T-test and ANCOVA were applied to data processing. The results of this study are as follows. First, the experimental group showed meaningful improvement in the level of leadership life skills compared with the control group. Second, the experimental group showed meaningful improvement in the level of the self-esteem compared with the control group. Third, the experimental group kept their level of leadership life skills and self-esteem after the program. This study showed that self-leadership program had an positive effect on leadership life skills and self-esteem of middle school students. And training of self-understanding, self-expression, problem-solving, goal-setting, and self-reward was effective for enhancing student\'s self-leadership and self-esteem.
