This article was designed to investigate and to analyze the stress and coping behaviors of parents with the children attending the school for the blind, focusing upon the variables of family and those of the children. And this was also designed to provide the parents of visually impaired children with basic supporting data for better adaptation.
The results of this study were summarized as follows.
1. There was no statistically significant difference in the variables of family.
2. As for the variables of children, there were meaningful differences on other subvariables such as age, the level of vision, and especially, parents of children with multiple disabilities have shown apparently more stress than others.
3. With regard to the variables of family, Mothers are inclined to pay more efforts than fathers and the older the parents, the more active their coping behaviors are.
4. There were no statistically significant differences on the variables of children. These results implied that parents\' coping behaviors were more influenced by the variables of family than by those of children. It reveals that children\'s factors affect the parents stress more than family factors do. On the other hand, parents\' coping behaviors were more dependent upon the variables of family than upon those of children.
