The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of parents\' caring attitudes such as abuse and unfairness, and self-conscious affect such as shame-proneness and guilt-proneness on locus of control of middle school students. For this purpose, the researcher measured subordinate dimensions of abuse such as negligence, physical abuse and emotional abuse using a measurement tool for Experience of Being Abused and Neglected, and measured the level of unfairness using the Filial Responsibility Scale-Youth(FRS-Y), and measured subordinate dimensions of self-conscious affect such as shame-proneness and guilt-proneness using the Personal Feelings Questionnaire-2(PFQ-2), and measured the level of locus of internal-external control using the Locus of Control Scale, for 708 male and female students in middle schools in Seoul. As a result, it was found that among subordinate variables, a variable which can explain locus of internal control significantly are shame-proneness, emotional abuse and negligence, and variables which explain locus of external control are shame-proneness and unfairness. This study has tried to provide some help in understanding the developmental process of Locus of Control through making it clear the relationship between parents\' caring attitudes, adolescents\' self-conscious affect and locus of internal-external control.
