The purpose of this study is to survey childcare facility workers’ perception on the importance and applicability of childcare facility evaluation certification indexes.
The subjects of this study were employees working at different types of supported facilities (national and public facilities, corporate facilities, workplace facilities), private facilities and home‐based childcare facilities in Gumi City, Gimcheon City and their vicinities in Gyeongsangbuk‐do. In addition, the evaluation certification indexes suggested by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family were referred to, and 450 questionnaires were distributed and 315 of them were used in the final analysis. Collected data were analyzed through one‐way ANOVA to see differences among the groups, and Pearson’s bivariate correlation analysis to measure correlations among the variables. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, as to difference in the importance type, only the importance of cooperation between family and community was higher in supported childcare facilities, and the importance of all the other indexes was high in order of private childcare facilities, supported childcare facilities and home‐based childcare facilities, and the importance was perceived higher by those with high academic qualification. Second, as to difference in the applicability type, the applicability was perceived highest by home‐based childcare facilities and lowest by private childcare facilities. As to difference in the variables of applicability according to position, directors showed the lowest perception on the applicability of safety and cooperation between family and community, which were statistically significantly different. According to academic qualification, the applicability was perceived lower by those with low academic qualification. Third, as to the correlation between the importance and applicability of the childcare facility evaluation certification indexes when correlations between the importance of childcare environment and childcare process and the sub‐variables of the applicability of the childcare facility evaluation certification indexes were examined.
