Targeting young children, art education for young children should provide enough, detailed explanations by teachers armed with the understanding of young children and expertise and create a smooth atmosphere for free art activities. An educational environment is critical offering young children opportunities to grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially. In young children\'s art education, environments for art education should play important roles to allow for diverse and autonomous attempts beyond mere drawing and coloring.
An ideal example of environment for young children\'s art education is the Reggio Emilia environment. Creating Reggio, Malaguzzi emphasized the importance of environment so much that he called school the third teacher. The Reggio environment for art education has profound implications for Korea\'s environment for art education.
Still remaining in the traditional format, Korea\'s environment for art education has a variety of problems regarding art activities such as lacking space, poor teaching materials and equipments, and shortage of facilities. Thus it\'s urgent to improve and study the environment for art education. This study set out to examine the Reggio environment for art education, understand its implications for Korea\'s environment for art education, and search for improvement measures. Thus it looked into the Reggio environment for art education and further the spatial issues facing Korea\'s art education.
