The purpose of this study is to confirm the moderating effects of self-esteem on the relationship between parents problem drinking and adaptation. It persists children of alcoholics and their negative adjustment comes by only parent\'s side, however, on the contrary I tried to find another factor that affects positive consequences based on COAs adjustment.
Participants in this study are 374 high school adolescents at the age 14 and 19 and two-way ANOVA on the platform of SPSS/Win 14.0.
The result of this study are as follow :
Frist, it was proved parents problem drinking and self-esteem affect is negative in internal adaptation, and it is not proved that female adolescents\' self-esteem exerted as moderating variable.
Second, it was proved parents problem drinking and self-esteem affect is negative in external adaptation, and it was proved that female adolescents\' self-esteem exerted as moderating variable.
That is, those with low self-esteem experienced high parents problem drinking and much external adaptation, and those with high self-esteem experienced low parents problem drinking and less external adaptation. Therefore, in order to help adolescents to cope with their parents problem drinking, various intervention strategies are required in terms of improving their self-esteem. It is lead to help adolescent to adaptation.
