The purpose of this study was to survey the elementary school students’ conceptions about
the climate change. Most participants responded that they did not possess a correct understanding
of climate change; for example, the climate change was the abrupt change of weather or atmosphere,
and it occurred due to the human activities such as the excessive use of fossil fuels and the
emission of greenhouse gases. Many students were confused about the effects of climate change.
For example, the climate change resulted in global warming and extreme weather. In addition,
participants were confused about the climate change, global warming, extreme weather. These results
implied that the participants were confused, not being able to discern one from another among
the factors including concept, cause, result, and the influence of climate change. It is, therefore,
suggested effective teaching programs about the climate change be developed for elementary level.
