This study attempts to analyze how teachers understand causes of achievement variation
over geographical areas and what are their methods to overcome. In this study, in-depth
interviews were conducted to analyze the perspectives of the middle and high school
teachers. And I wanted to understand the teachers' perception, as insiders of the school, of
the achievement gap, also wanted to describe the existing state of achievement gap using
analysis of teacher's perception as a basis.
The results of this study, teachers indicate that the concept of achievement variation is
considered, which is said to be a natural consequence, to be valid. They also agree that it
needs to be reconceptualized. Second, teachers think that achievement variation over
geographical areas comes from the lack of achievement stimulation, circumstance of cultural
deprivation, frustration, and a sense of failure in their study. Third, teachers believe that
achievement variation has been improving through multiple community support systems.
Fourth, teachers suppose that the strengthening of each school can be helpful in reducing
achievement variation over geographical areas.
