The purpose of this study was to suggest the years for graduation of early childhood
education department in junior colleges based on core competencies of teachers.
In order to accomplish the purpose of this study, following methodologies were adopted.
1) Review of the related literatures, statistical data, and previous studies concerning the
years for graduation of early childhood education department and core capacities of
teachers.
2) Interview with teachers and principals of kindergartens and professors of junior colleges
majored in early childhood education.
3) Survey about the years for graduation of early childhood education department and
core capacities of teachers. The subjects of survey was professors and college students
of early childhood education department, and teachers and principals of kindergartens.
Based on the analysis and discussion, the conclusions and further suggestions of this
study are as follows:
First, the years for graduation of early childhood education department in junior colleges
should be adjusted based on institutional analysis, change of vocational society, foreign
cases, and current conditions of early childhood education department in junior colleges.
Second, the years for graduation of early childhood education department in junior colleges
should be extended based on core capacities as kindergarten teachers of graduates of junior
colleges.
Third, the years for graduation of early childhood education department in junior colleges
should be extended based on the results of survey.
Fourth, In order to extend the years for graduation of early childhood education
department in junior colleges, following matters should be considered: development of
unique curriculum, employment of more professors, and improvement of rewards of
kindergarten teachers.
