This study aims to examine the changes of pre-service teacher education system in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in China. There was no organized pre-service teacher education system there before the People's Republic of China was established and it was after the national foundation that its formation began in a true sense. The rapid development of the elementary school education after the national foundation changed both full-time and part-time pre-service teacher education system due to the continuously increased demands for new teachers. Except during the Cultural Revolution period, the system produced a sufficient number of teachers and formed a well organized system for our ethnical education. As a result, our capability and culture were significantly improved during the period. However, now that China is in a transitional stage from socialism to capitalism after the economic revolution, pre-service teacher education system in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture is facing many problems in terms of quality and number. Therefore, the study on schemes to solve such problems will be even more active in the future in the aim to further develop and improve our ethnical education.
