This study aimed at investigating the role-conflicts of Korean elementary school coaches and their hob satisfaction to enhance their role performance in schools. More concretely , this study examined elementary school coaches pereptions on the importance of school sports teams. their role performance. role-conflicting factors, and the degree of thier satisfaction with the profession.In addition, the influence of four demographic variables(gender, years of coaching experience academic background and type of school ) on their perceptions as addressed.
Data were gathered by the questionnaire survey of 211 Korean elementary school coaches. The results can be summarized as follows:
1) Most teachers appeared to perceive that school sports teams played very important roles in school physical education and in the development of elite sports
2) Only 40 % of the respondents expressed their satisfaction with thier role performance, citing such reasons as the poortunity for contributin to sport development finding and training young student\'s athletic talents.
sufficient administrative-financial supports from schools and parents, and cultivation student whole personality though sports partivipation. The degree of Korean elementary school coaches\' dissatisfaction with their role performances was relatively high.
3) The maing role-conflicting factors of elementary school coaches were similar to their dissatisfaction factors with the profession. They include such factors as insuffifient administrative financial supports from schools and parents, difficulties in recruiting new school sports team members. and the peopl\'s distorted view on the school sports team and its members.
4) the stragegies for enhancing elementary school coaches\' role performances in schools were suggested : probiding suffifient financial support by the government and schools, improviding sufficient financial support by the government and schools, improving the public\'s understanding on the school sports team and its importance, setting-up cooperative systems among districteducation office, schools, and parents for recruting new school sports team members and enhancing school coaches teaching expertise.
