This study is a phenomenological research on the experience of the novice counselor's counseling training
course in the B university counseling center. This study is about motivation of training and changes of the
training course of 7 trainee who receiving training course in the B University counseling center. The
Colaizzi’s phenomenological analysis suggested 59 formulated meanings, 20 themes and 8 thematic clusters.
Experimental subjects applied for the training program with a hope to grow as counseling experts.
It was found that they had difficulties for adapting to the new environment and uncertain career in the
counseling course. Although they experience tension, anxiety, frustration and skepticism as beginning
counselors, they expanded self-understanding through the process of individual analysis and counseling cases.
And moreover the participants experienced positive personal relationships through reviews of essay and
emotional support with colleague. They also displayed margin and flexibility as counselors, and they
integrated the counseling theory and was reinforced as professional counselor by supervision. Based on the
above research, this study suggested further discussions and succeeding studies.
